  • I'm just curious, but why is Osomatsu! being put as "happy to serve"?

I mean, I know that is what is used in the official VIZ, but that doesn't entirely make it right since it's something that usually means "not that great" or used to state "it wasn't a big deal".

In fact, it isn't unusual to say terms like "Osomatsu-sama deshita" after someone thanks you for a meal you cooked which translates (roughly) to "it wasn't a big deal" (which kinda fits the humility of the Japanese, though Souma is ironically not being humble while saying such a thing).

Also, fandom commonly knows of the phrase "It wasn't much" and it is used by fandom, so shouldn't it be noted that his catchphrase is "It wasn't much" and how in the VIZ, it's notes as "happy to serve"?

I mean, it isn't the 1st time that official translators modified a catchphrase of the MC (like in Naruto), so shouldn't the translated version be given, and then an explanation be used in the trivia?

I mean, this isn't the official guidebook done by the publishers, but a wiki, that is by the fans and would note stuff like this so the readers would know about these differences.

    • Don't know really, but the Viz guys are renowned for censoring anything that doesn't appeal the more conservative people in the US.

        Loading editor
    • Originally, we used the phrase "It wasn't much!". However, when the official VIZ translation came up, we decided to use "Happy to serve" instead. As you can read here.

Personally, I do like the fan translations, like Casanova Scans. Also, we don't use the official translation for every topic (as we use "Autumn Election" and not "Fall Classic"). We might have to start this debate again, as we also tried here.

  • Hello, and Happy New Year!

I'm an admin at the Date a Live wikia. I was wondering if our wikias could affiliate with each other.

Here's our trade mark! Also, apologies in advance if there is a pre-requisite that needs to be meet first. First time trying to seek out affiliations, I would appreciate any feedback I can get.

  • Hi Pscj, I am french people and i am working about a french version of Shokugeki no Soma wikia. I really love it and only Wikipedia talks about in french. So I decided to begin to make a french version. I am alone and, well, i have not a lot of knowledges about website creation. But I am motivated and I hope that some other persons will come to help me.

So I will begin quietly and slowly first. And I wanted to ask you and the staff of this wikia if i can draw inspiration from your work and use informations.

    Thx for your answer,

    Best Regards

    Setholtek

PS : Sorry for my english :p

    • Hello Setholtek! I fear Pscj has not been online for a while now. As an adminstrator here, I wish you the best of luck in creating a French Shokugeki wikia.

You can use this wiki as an inspiration, thanks for asking. However, you should add Interwiki Links to this wiki, and at the same time, we will add Interwiki Links to yours. I advise you to keep things simple at first, start with creating the most visited pages (most important characters and such).

Your English is fine! Good luck with the wiki :)

    • Well, since Kaiser took all my lines I had to say I'll just leave it at it and wish you the best of luck haha. You are free to interlink the files as how our Chinese counterparts have done.

        Loading editor
    • Thx for your answers. I will make the interwiki links soon. I just wait to have more pages and information into the wiki to ask french wikia managers to create it. I prefer to have solid bases. I will do the same with chineses so ^^

    • If you need any help with the interwiki links, don't hesitate to ask the staff here.

  • Looks like we need a new infobox for that duel. Can't do three way duels with our only cooking duel infobox. Dunno if you can find someone to do that, but hopefully you can.

  • Great job in removing those wikis from our affiliates. You even send all of them a message, pretty neat. Though I would suggest removing a few others too, maybe we can discuss this issue in chat?

  • Rooney never scored an easier hattrick, I presume. Lord, Brugge were terrible in that second half. Congrats on the win.

    • I wouldn't be so sure about the hat-trick case though, Rooney's three goals were really sub-par save the second one, it was very easy, but this isn't his easiest. He put 4 soft ones against an incredibly loose Hull City years ago, or so I remember.

True, Brugge gave up the moment they were 1-0 down (4-1 down on aggregate) and never showed the intensity like they did during the first 20 minutes of the first leg. Shame really (though I'm not complaining :P)

Thanks, really delighted we went through to the group stages and what's better is that we're against pretty easy opponents as well (PSV Eindhoven, CSKA Moscow and Wolfsburg).

    • Well yeah, Brugge were missing some of their best players. That Diaby, who missed in front of Romero, shouldn't even be playing. They did alright in the first leg and the first half of the second leg, but they should have scored if they wanted to get a result out of that match.

Yes, you got a great group this year, though you shouldn't underestimate CSKA Moscow, they managed to defeat City last year and are the best team in Russia at this moment. PSV and Wolfsburg are great teams, but they have lost their best players or will lose them this week (Depay and De Bruyne).
