Also, Naui, I've noticed that rollbacker doesn't allow me to edit certain templates under protection. Can you upgrade my status to content moderator or admin? So far, I've accumulated over 2000 edits over the course of 3 months and have been fairly active on a daily basis.
I have the feeling that wika traffic is going to speed up soon with season 3 coming soon this fall. With the new season, I want to update the character template images from the screenshots from the new season. Likewise, I heard Jwjchsr wanted to update the character template to separate voice actors and seiyūs, which I can't do because of lacking the authorization needed. Likewise, I've noticed that the same vandalism attempts have happened repetitively will continue unless a deterrent is made.
Also, I would like to ask if there are any current plans for updating the synopsis summary for the current arc on many of the main character pages. I'll be more than happy to help there as well.
Lastly, is it alright to post images for recipes for their respective food pages?
This ended up being a bit long winded than intent, but thanks for the time and consideration.
We can install a protection to her page, but there needs to be a very rampant and consistent form of vandalism of the same nature. Like multiple anonymous users changing Ikumi's name to "boob-monster" on her page. I checked the issues with the page and they do not really warrant a page lock. Maybe a week ban, but definitely not a lock. For now, I put that anonymous user on ban for a month.
As for your promotion, if Jwjchsr is okay with it, I can promote you to Admin. If you have his approval, then I am willing to elevate your status
As far as I know, we do not have any immediate plans for templates as that is not handled by me. If you have an issue you can always use the talk forum to post those kinds of concerns with the current template or making change requests. To be honest, I don't handle that since I do not know how to format the templates anymore.
Alright, the main issue I had with Erina, was that shippers were posting Soma as her future husband semi frequently during the last 2 months.
The last user being 184.108.40.206. Oddly, enough the page was vandalized again inbetween my previous post and now again. Erina's page seems to be a primary target for anom users lately for some reason.
As for Jwjchsr, I've already received his sponsorship for the position before the first time I asked you. You can find the message on his wall, the sixth one down from the title "New page for the Regiment de Cuisine?.
As for the template, it's a fairly basic edit. It's providing another horizontal line dividing English and Japanese Voice Actors. Jwjchsr said he was going to work on it before. I can help with the modification to the character infobox, but right now I don't have the authority to edit that template.
Yeah, well, you'll get those kinds fairly often in most mainstream anime/manga series. Shippers will always exist, even after there is a canon pairing at the end. It does not quite call for a page lock unless it happens often in less than a week (like it needs to happen every day or at least every other day for a week). Block for now is good, but if more of those happen throughout the next few weeks, we can lock her page and Soma's for that matter as a temporary protection.
Yeah, I know Jwjchsr already endorsed, but I need another one for this time now that I am down with promoting you. The last time was a request that I was not ready to accept at the time and opinions change. Not to say that he won't now, but I want another confirmation now that you've made another request and i've approved. Its part of our safety system since our first major administration revamp.
Recently, I've been talking about Jwjchsr about the different file formats used for specific pictures on the wikia. Going back, there are a lot of picture that I wanted to redo in order to comply to the rules. That being said, I know that several wikia, like the One Piece one, have similar images rules in place about watermarked images and text in speech dialogue. however, the one exception that they all share is using the Japanese version for chapter titles.
After all, editing out text looks fine for a cropped image, but the effect is more jarring for the entire cover. Allowing the Japanese version would also allow the wikia to remove the the mangastream version, which have been watermarked with their logo, which I couldn't remove without damaging the quality of the photo.
That being said, can I upload the Japanese chapter covers?
Hey Vizard, if you don't mind maybe I can address your inquiry. A while ago, I actually talked to the other admins about converting the English translated cover to raw Japanese cover. I even bought up how the One Piece Wikia uses them and how consistent they are. The result of that conversation ended up null and void because the lack of a consistent source of raw Japanese cover on my part. With that said, if you manage to find a source that has Chapter 1 to the current chapter, then I'm all for changing our current covers to the Japanese ones with the same quality that the OP wikia has.
I want to hear what Naui has to say about this and If he's up for the change, before doing anything.
It took some organizing, but I have all the Japanese chapter covers from 1 to 219 organized in the proper file format. What do you say? Can I upload them? Jwjchsr seemed fine with it if I had everything ready.
Oh, on a side note, are you a big Fire Emblem fan? Just noticed you from that wikia. What are you thoughts on the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors game?
Okay, that's good quality. So long as whatever image you upload to the pages are like this in quality, I say we make these the preferred images for the chapter pages.
Well, the remakes are good. I mean, I never played Gaiden so I was fun to play Alm and Celica's game (though I wish the amiibo function was like Fates). I will probably get Warriors as I'm a huge Fire Emblem fan, second only to Pokémon. I also play Heroes.
Mangastream takes priority as we prefer the more direct translations used by Mangastream rather than Viz Media's often "lost in translation" titles. I remember Karaage Wars being one of the standouts where the Viz Media translation removed the significant meaning behind the Japanese titles.
We have been in discussion of mentioning Viz Media's localizations on the pages in the past, but we've never really moved forward on that notion.
I've already discussed this with Jwjchsr, but the admins here haven't been as active as they use to be. During this time, the Shokugeki wikia has already come under vandalism attacks on several pages already, even including the main page.
I'd love to help out more with this wikia and continue helping it grow as we reach the climax of the promotion exams arc. This of course means updating more content for the character plot summaries and creating new pages for new dishes.
For prior experience, I've already worked as an admin on the Re:zero, Konosuba, and Date A Live wikias. Let me know what you think about this request.
I apologize that Pscj and I have not been around as often as we used to, but I still keep an eye out on the Wiki and our bureaucrats, namely Jwjchsr, are doing a fantastic job handling the wiki in our absence. While I admit that the vandalism attacks were bad, they were handled very well and even I came back to handle it when I was notified.
In terms of elevating you into higher position, I can say that I am at the very least willing to make you a rollback user since our old one is inactive, but with some deliberation needed. Putting you straight into an admin is largely unfair to both Hellkaiser and Jwjchsr who have made much more contributions to the wiki for a longer period of time. We slowly elevated them overtime and thus all future editors who want to become admins should be subject to the same treatment we put them through. So for now, I humbly deny your request for a position raise to Admin, however, if Jwjchsr agrees to elevating you to at least a Rollback user for now, I am all for it.
These were set up to be more strict on how we do promotions to prevent the fiasco that happened on this wiki in its earliest years. If you qualify for all the points to become a rollback/admin, please notify me.
Thank you very much for sending me the fast reply, giving me the link, and explaining the rationale behind the application process. Right now, I don't meet the over 2,500 edit count and the two month continuous activity on the wikia. It would be unfair to both Hellkaiser and Jwjchsr, as well as other wikia contributors. If Jwjchsr agrees, I'll more than be willing to take the rollbacker position.
@Naui - Yeah, I agree that we should promote Vizard to at least a Rollback user for now. However, considering the current situation here, how about we promote Vizard to a Content Moderator once he gets a couple more edits in (like 500~750)? In terms of ranking, it's a step above Rollback but just a step below Admin. It would give him more tools to fight vandalism. I provided a link below about what powers does a CM have. Considering how active Vizard is, It would be great for this site to have him hold this position.
Ok, so I hereby officially promote Vizard to rollback user for now.
@Jwjchsr: Personally, I want to stick with the 2500 edit count as that makes it fair to both you and Harry who both Pscj and I had waited until you had put up that much edits before we promoted the two of you. Honestly, I don't feel that we need more moderators than already is. Though it looks like Harry hasn't been on in a few months. Otherwise, I can handle most of the vandalism as they are not THAT frequent that there is a dire need for more people in higher administration positions. I think we're fine as is.
@Vizard: When the time and need comes, maybe we can discuss promoting you again. However, in the mean time, I will say if that you want to get promoted once more, shoot for that 2500 edit count and perhaps we'll discuss making exceptions in the future.
@Naui - Okay, that's fine with me. I was just suggesting that idea based on the situation here and my inactivity in the few upcoming months. However, if you're going to handle most of the vandalism here then I think we'll be fine as well.
@Vizard - I added your name under "rollbacks" to Community Messages wall on the Recent Activity page, so most users will see your current position. Congrats on your promotion to Rollback.
The main page just came under attack from vandalism. Rather than lifting the protection of significant portions of the wikia and leaving them vulnerable, do you think you need to appoint another admin to ensure that there is some administration staff watching the wikia?
If so, I would recommend someone you trust, and has been on the wikia for a while, like your primary rollbacker.
